Connecting to Android Phones/ Tablets:

Via Bluetooth

1. Hold down the “A” button and “Home” button simultaneously for 2 seconds, the Android Mode indicator starts flashing. It means that the controller is ready to be connected to your Android Tablet or Phone. 
2. To pair the controller, go to your Android devices and follow the User Interface flow below: Settings> Turn on Bluetooth> Search for new devices> “GameSir-T1s” will display on the screen. 
3. If your T1s is paired and connected, the Android Mode indicator of  T1s will stay on.

Connecting on Windows PC:

Via 2.4Ghz Wireless Dongle

1. Pull out the wireless USB dongle from the front side of the controller.
2. Inserting the wireless dongle into the USB port of your Windows PC, hold down “X” and “Home” button of your T1s at the same time for 2 seconds.
3. If the controller is connected successfully, the PC Mode indicator of T1s will stay on.

GameSir T1S Review: Using It

The GameSir T1S continues the company’s goal of making the most flexible controllers. Supporting Android, Windows and even PS3 and iOS (limited to certain apps as the controller isn’t MFi-certified).

The controller supports wired and wireless connections, with Bluetooth 4.0 and 2.4GHz wireless supported. Regardless of your device, you should be able to connect the GameSir T1S to it.

A mouse mode is included, allowing you to control the mouse cursor and click from the controller. This was particularly handy for one-touch games that don’t support controllers (I’m looking at you Jetpack Joyride!) as I was still able to play them with the controller.

You can even tweak the controller to your liking, with shortcuts allowing you to adjust backlight brightness, vibration strength and Turbo frequency.

There is one thing GameSir have removed though and that’s D-Input support. Thankfully, D-input is never used anymore and I’ve rarely found a use for it aside from some older games and emulators so it’s removal is essentially a non-issue but something I need to mention.

Connecting It Up

Connecting the controller is straightforward, though you’ll want to keep the manual nearby as there’s a few button combos needed to access the controller’s modes and settings.

Both Windows and Android users can use the controller wired or wirelessly (via the included 2.4GHz adapter).

Using it on Windows is as easy as plugging in the USB adapter and booting up the controller in X-Input mode (X+Home) and Windows will recognise it as an Xbox controller. You can also plug the controller in directly via USB to use it as a wired controller.

In addition to 2.4GHz wireless and wired modes, Android users get the benefit of pairing up the controller via Bluetooth 4.0 for a simplified wireless experience. This worked well, though there’s some slight input lag like other Bluetooth controllers due to the underlying technology. That said, it didn’t impact any of the games I played.

The controller remembers the last used mode and automatically reconnects when powered on.

Gaming on the GameSir T1S

I tested the GameSir T1S on a number of supported devices, including my UGOOS UT3S Android TV box,Samsung Galaxy S7and Windows 10 PC.

On Windows, X-Input games and emulators worked perfectly. Sleeping Dogs, Mad Max and Spec Ops: The Line automatically detected the controller for use in game and vibration worked as expected.

Android support was also solid. Games with native controller support detected the controller without issue whilst some emulators required me to map the buttons, though it worked perfectly once this was complete.

Range

Range was excellent. Whether I was using Bluetooth 4.0 or 2.4GHz wireless, I didn’t have experience any range issues though you’ll get a better experience using the 2.4GHz wireless connection.

Battery Life

The in-built 600mAh battery should offer around 18 hours of gameplay according to GameSir. After 4-5 hours of gaming, I’ve still got 75% battery remaining so this doesn’t seem unrealistic.

The controller will enter standby mode after 1 minute of inactivity and will turn itself off after 10 minutes to save battery life which is handy.

Многие игры, в которые нам удалось поиграть не совсем корректно реагировали на кнопки геймпада, будто они и не поддерживали его изначально. К примеру, GTA: Vice City — интуитивно хочется нажать на одну кнопку, а нужно на другую. И так далее. Поменять раскладку клавиш Gamesir G3s можно непосредственно в приложении Happy Chick:

Опять же, в инструкции об этом не сказано, что еще раз подтверждает тот факт, что она нуждается в доработке.

Q: Why can’t I use G6 when I reboot my phone?

A: In the Bluetooth connection interface, if the «i» of the gamepad name is lowercase, then turn off the gamepad first, press X+HOME to restart the connection.

Q: When playing PUBG, why do the characters walk slowly instead of fast when pushing the joystick?

A: You need to enlarge the size of the joystick until the character can run.

Q: Why does a small dot flash when I press the button of the G6?

A: The small dots are simulating mouse clicks, which is normal and can be ignored.

Q: When pushing the joystick to move the character, what should I do if I press the L1 key at the same time and the character cannot move?

A: Except for the R1 key, other keys cannot be triggered at the same time. For example, when pressing L1 while pushing the joystick to move the character, the character will stop moving at this time, because only the last pressed L1 is triggered. Therefore, we recommend dragging the virtual buttons that need to be touched frequently and simultaneously onto R1.

Q: Why can’t I find the gamepad firmware version 1.23?

A: Press Y+HOME to start the gamepad -> enter the G-Crux APP, click connect -> firmware upgrade -> other versions -> select the 1.23 version firmware in the list -> click to upgrade now.

Notes on button settings

When setting the button, pay attention to the following points:

1. We highly recommend you set R1 as the Fire button.

2. The mapping position of R1 is fixed in the upper left corner of the screen, so the user cannot customize the position of R1, but can only drag the button that wants to be set to R1 to the upper left corner in the game.

3. Except R1, other buttons support the following three modes:

GameSir T1S Review: Design

After flirting with the Xbox One-esque design with theGameSir G4S, the company has looked to Sony’sDualShock 4 controllerfor inspiration.

This change has seen the GameSir T1S adopt a more subdued design. Gone are the flashy silver accents, replaced with an interesting leather-like texture. I’m not a fan of the look but it offers excellent grip when gaming so I’m ok with the trade off.

The controller itself feels solid and matches the quality of Sony and Microsoft’s efforts.

The buttons have an elegant transparent resin design that lights up with colored LEDs. They look great, especially in the dark.

Speaking of controls, the GameSir T1S has everything you’d expect. There’s four face buttons (using the standard XABY layout), dual analog sticks (with L3/R3 buttons), two shoulder bumpers, dual analogue triggers, as well as start, select, turbo and clear buttons.

The controls feel great on the GameSir T1S, though they’re not perfect. The buttons and d-pad felt great. The latter felt precise and wasn’t mushy like some controllers.

The analog triggers offer pleasing resistance, though I found the shoulder bumpers disappointingly mushy like the Dualshock 4.

The analog sticks really shine, with small deadzones for accurate control.

Along the top, there’s a Home button and micro USB port for charging the in-built 600mAh battery. A row of four blue LEDs lets you monitor the battery’s status.

I’m glad GameSir brought the Turbo and Clear buttons to the face of the controller. This eliminatesone of my gripes with its predecessor, as the GameSir G4S had these hidden under the smartphone stand.

For those gaming on a mobile, the GameSir T1S features an integrated smartphone holder in the centre. It’ll support phones from 3.5-6 inches at two separate angles which is nice.

GameSir have improved the stand since the G4S, using a fold out tab which does a better job holding your smartphone thanks to a clever fold-out grip.

The wireless USB dongle is hidden inside the controller which is a much-appreciated feature carried over from the GameSir G4S. It’s great that everything you need is all onboard.

In terms of comfort, it’s a comfortable controller. As someone who games mostly on a PS4, I feel right at home with the GameSir T1S.

Конечно, мы не ринулись сразу читать мануал, а сразу вытащили все из коробки и начали с любопытством разглядывать контроллер.

Скажу честно — выглядит достаточно круто, на ощупь — приятный, держать — комфортно. Помимо D-pad (крестовины) и кнопок действия обнаружено два аналоговых стика, служебные кнопки Home, Start, Select, Turbo и Clear, а также по два триггера L и R с каждой стороны. Кнопки слева красиво подсвечиваются при включении.

Едем дальше. В коробке мы нашли держатель для смартфона с интуитивно понятным креплением (небольшая инструкция в картинках также имеется), единственный минус — это хлипкая на вид защелка, на счет которой сразу возникли опасения, можно даже ставить ставки на срок жизни, как по мне — продержится она недолго, правда, есть вариант — не отцеплять держатель от контроллера. Но тут есть подвох, о котором я скажу ниже.

GameSir G3S vs GameSir G4S vs GameSir T1S

This is going to be a pretty common question and it’s a tough choice as they’re all solid controllers.

There’s two questions you’ll need to ask yourself:

• What’s my budget?
• Do I prefer Xbox or Playstation controllers?

If you’re tight on funds, theGameSir G3Sis still a fantastic controller. It offers the same functionality as the GameSir G4S and GameSir T1S, though the smartphone holder is a separate attachment and it isn’t quite as solid.

If you can afford it, I’d recommend going for theGameSir G4SorGameSir T1Sdepending on your controller preference.

Fans of the Xbox layout with its asymmetrical analog sticks will likely prefer the GameSir G4. Similarly, Sony fans will feel right at home with the GameSir T1S.

Итак, наш смартфон аккуратно вставлен в держатель и закреплен на контроллере. Что дальше? Как играть? Идем в мануал и видим, что для подключения по Bluetooth к одной из платформ соответственно используется одна из кнопок Y-B-A-X + HOME. Мы тестируем геймпад Gs3 на iPhone 5c, так что наша кнопка — это Y. После ее одновременного нажатия с HOME, помимо подсветки кнопок действия, замечено свечение внизу между рукоятками — это светится один из маячков — значок «яблока», что означает, что контроллер готов к подключению к смартфону на iOS -системе. Идем в настройки Bluetooth на телефоне и выбираем GS3. Готово! Ах да! Подвох — те самые маячки с изображением платформ, один из которых светится при включении — в аккурат скрыты держателем. Не учли.

Android

Смартфон на базе Android легко обнаруживает геймпад и сразу же к нему подключается посредством Bluetooth. Gamesir G3s отлично работает со всеми играми из Google Play, поддерживающими работу с геймпадами. Также в инструкции есть ссылка на приложение Happy Chick, из которого бесплатно можно загрузить огромное количество игр, использующих геймпад, включая игры, которые в Google Play платные. Кроме того, в это приложение встроены эмуляторы различных игровых приставок от NES до PSP и собрана большая библиотека игр для них. Можно погрузиться в ностальгию и пройти оригинальный Super Mario Bros или Resident Evil. Интерфейс приложения на английском, но в названии игр иногда встречаются китайские иероглифы.

Бонусом в работе Gamesir G3s является то, что он может использоваться в режиме мышки. При переключении в этот режим на экране появляется курсор, управляемый левым стиком, а кнопки A и B начинают соответствовать левой и правой кнопкам мыши (нажатие на правую кнопку – возврат).

А если ваш смартфон или планшет поддерживает OTG, то Gamesir G3s можно подключить по кабелю, который прилагается в комплекте. Это необходимо в том случае, если ваш геймпад неожиданно разрядится.

iOS

С поддержкой iOS всё немного сложнее. iPhone также легко обнаруживает Gamesir G3s и подключает его, но игры из App Store отказываются с ним работать. Более того, iPhone определяет его как клавиатуру, из-за чего перестаёт открывать программную клавиатуру, когда это необходимо. Но приложение Happy Chick также доступно на iPhone, с теми отличиями, что его можно скачать максимум на два устройства (или на сколько угодно устройств, если на них установлен Jailbreak), интерфейс полностью на китайском. Зато это приложение позволяет даже на iPhone без Jailbreak бесплатно скачивать и устанавливать игры, платные в App Store, а также использовать эмуляторы приставок, которые в App Store отсутствую вовсе.

Стоит отметить, что ни с какими приложениями из App Store (даже поддерживающими контроллеры) Gamesir G3s не работает, т.к. отсутствует лицензия MFi (Made for iPhone). Производитель сообщил, что готовится выход новой версии контроллера с полной поддержкой iOS.
